An African American, Rickey attended Alabama State University and Tuskegee University for his education. While at Alabama State University, he was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and the Kappa Kappa Psi National Honor Band fraternity.
Rickey’s comedy career began in 2000 as the host of BET’s show, Comic View. He excelled in his role as host and soon signed a five-year contract. A formal contract with the television network allowed him to apply for other television shows such as The Nashville Network, Comic Escape, and Uptown Comedy Club. He also collaborated on HBO’s iconic Comedy show, Def Comedy Jam.
Rickey’s act before finding his footing in prank calls was mostly about playing outrageous fictional characters. He found his footing in the comedy world when he joined a Dallas radio station, KBFB, in 2004. He was offered to become the host of their morning radio show.
